Monday the 4th of December 2012 Egbert Sonneveld, who is an associated technician of several LIFE+ projects, attended a meeting with the Dutch Embassy in Madrid concerning the preparations for the presentation and official meeting at the end of January 2013.

Egbert had the opportunity to explain in detail our projects to Mrs. Tineke Zwitser, Agricultural Counselor of the Embassy of The Netherlands and her team as well as some representatives of the trade department.

The technical meeting took place to prepare a visit at the end of January to the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (MAGRAMA) in Madrid where we are invited together with the Embassy by no one other than Mrs Begoña Nieto (General Director Desarrollo Rural y Política Forestal) in order to present our LIFE projects.

The purpose of the meeting will be to exchange ideas and visions and better understand the objectives of contributing to sustainable development of agricultural and forestry sectors.

The presentation will predominantly evolve around activities that Operation CO2 is initiating to make this contribution, including the treatment of test areas with different concentration levels of mycorrhiza applied and other products provided by Dutch partner Plant Health Care (PHC), as well as the carbon sequestration measurements and methodologies by another Dutch partner Forestry Service Group (FSG).

We will also make use of the occasion to present the latest technologies applied in two of our other LIFE projects that deal with forestry and agriculture in dry lands: The Green Deserts (LIFE 09 /ENV/ES/447), where we work with Dutch participant Aquapro and their Groasis Waterboxxes, and Crops for Better Soil (LIFE 10 ENV/ES/471), where we work with Dutch participant Medusa who are specialists in soil analysis.
