Erasmus Mundus students in European Forestry visit the Operation CO2 project in Alinyà

On 6 May, 6 students of the current Erasmus Mundus Masters promotion in Mediterranean Forestry and Natural Resources Management, made a technical visit to the area of Planassa plantations and Campaposta in Alinyà. During the visit, which was coordinated by the University of Lleida, the students learned about the carbon sequestration, credit certification process and the first results after two years of planting. The students came from UK, Brazil, North America and Belgium.

They also visited the areas of Bosc de Perles and Muntanya d´Alinyà in which action C4 of LIFE13 NAT/ES/000724 Pinassa project is being implemented. The project aims to conserve black pine forests (Pinus nigra subsp. salzmannii var pirenaica), habitats considered of interest by the Habitats Directive (9530 (Sub) Mediterranean pine forests with endemic black pines) and included in the Red Natura 2000 of Catalonia.
